This new technology can be used at any time day or night, indoors or out, because it is free from the influence of sunlight and shadows, unlike 2D image processing or stereo vision that uses two or more cameras to measure distances from the cameras. Moreover, by processing the spatial information, this technology enables separation and selection of objects regardless of the scene’s background color and contrast.

The common range finding method can be measured at a certain point only. The Range Image Camera can measure at 20,000 points at the same time and can recognize the targets as 3 dimentional objects.
